Dear Mr. Trump

Dr. President Elect Trump,

Congratulations on your victory, even though I did not vote for you.  I am one of the crazy 3rd party voters.  I did not vote for Gary Johnson as a protest vote.  I voted for him because I believe that he was the best candidate.  Regardless of who I voted for, you won, and now it is your job to fulfill your promise to the American people. Make America great again!  I know that many people argued with you that America is already great. While we have an amazing country, we have been moving the wrong direction for a long time. So, what are you going to do to make America great again? While I do not know everything that you stand for, I have some concerns based on what I do know.

For starters, you have talked about getting rid of Obamacare and creating a new program. Here is a crazy thought. How about you let people decide if they want coverage, and if they do, they purchase it. It is not the government’s job to handle health care. We don’t need replacement for Obamacare, we just need it wiped out.

The military is a very sensitive topic. I live in Virginia Beach, and I have a lot of friends that are in the military. It seems that anytime someone mentions cutting the military budget, people think that means you are against the military. However, the amount of money that we spend on the military is astronomical, and unrealistic to maintain. Based on what dozens of people in the military have told me, the problem is not a lack of funds, but a misappropriation of funds. Money is wasted left and right. You mentioned removing spending caps to build up the military. I firmly believe that focusing more on where funds are spent, and really cracking down on the insane amounts of corruption, we can improve our military without increasing the insane debt that this country is in.

I know that you have talked about pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement. If that is your plan, what are you going to do in order to help fix the rapidly escalating problem of pollution? Our planet is going downhill fast. We have the technology to greatly reduce dependence on oil, which would do amazing things for our planet. Our water, arguably the greatest resource on this planet, is being polluted more than ever before. Clean water is becoming a scarce commodity. There is no reason for that to be the case.

The reason that Clinton lost the election is very simple. People are sick of corruption, and they do not trust her (understandably). What are your plans to fix the problem? You have lobbyists writing laws, The Justice Department destroying evidence, the FBI letting Clinton off after she destroyed subpoenaed information and lied to them. You have a government paying news stations to run stories in order to manipulate the public view of topics. Enough is enough. If you want to make America great again, fixing the corruption problem is a great place to start. Towards the end of your campaign, you mentioned term limits on Congress. Did you steal this from Gary Johnson in order to attract his voters, or were you serious?

I have no doubt that the next 4 years will lead to major changes. You are the one that will get to decide if those changes help or hurt the country. Honestly, while you won, a LOT of people do not like you, and I get it. You have cheated on your wives, screwed small businesses, mocked a handicapped man, and now you are the president. I am a special education teacher, and I teach my students that they should be people of character. I would love to be able to have them look up to the president, but unfortunately, I can’t do that with you in office. Your actions have shown that you lack character. Please prove me wrong. Set a more positive example. Teach men to be real men, not pigs. Teach woman that they are to be treasured, not used. Lastly, pray for guidance. May people say that you were the most Christian candidate in this election. If you are really a man of God, submit to him. Pray, and even more important, LISTEN!

Joe Malone

OK, you are probably wondering who this Joe Malone guy is and why you should care what he thinks. Well, I'm a husband, father, teacher, entrepreneur, and mildly entertaining guy who is simply sick of watching this country go down the drain.
