It is frustrating to say the least that our government, the one that are supposed to serve the people, is working so hard to keep us down. I could spend the next hour pointing out ways that they do this, but I will keep it short (ish). Here are 3 things that the government is doing that have pissed me off!
1. Nevada killing the solar industry in their state. Nevada is a state with sunshine to spare. The solar industry was taking off. There is one problem. NV Energy! They complained about losing profits, and got an amendment passed that increased a fee on solar customers, reduced what they make for energy they don’t use, and MADE IT RETROACTIVE! They completely screwed solar customers, and the 2 biggest solar companies had to leave the state, costing thousands of people their jobs. They punished people for using cheap, clean energy, and protected a company using fossil fuels. Good to see we have our priorities in line. You can get more details about this crap deal HERE.
2. Control of our seeds. This one is messed up on all kinds of levels. Monsanto and Bayer have merged, giving them control of roughly 30% of the seeds on the planet. Why does that matter? The same company the is creating the GMO food we are being sold is also the same company soaking the produce in pesticides that they own, which is also the same company that treats people for cancer caused by pesticide exposure. Conflict of interest much? No big deal though, right? I mean, you can simply grow your own fruits and vegetables. Well, maybe not. Plant the seeds of your produce next time you go shopping. There is a good chance it won’t grow anything. Why not? Because they are making them that way. Monsanto is actually modifying produce so you can’t plant the seeds. To add insult to injury, many states have passed laws that keep people from sharing/trading seeds, making it harder to get seeds for non GMO produce. Why? Because it is taking business away from companies that have paid them well. Bayer and Monsanto have spent over $120 MILLION on lobbying in the past decade. The government protects those that pay them off! CLICK HERE to learn more about this deal.
3. Forced middle men. Tesla has a dream. They are trying to make energy efficient cars at affordable prices. One way of doing that is to sell directly to customers. Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder actually passed a law banning auto makers from selling directly to customers through their own stores. They are required to see through a network of franchise dealers! Guess who pressure the governor to pass that bill. General Motors. In other words, they are worried about losing sales, so they pay off someone to fix the problem.
These example are just the tip of the iceberg. The government needs to stop selling out and start stepping up. Stop holding back progress!
