It is no secret that life can be overwhelming. We are all busy. Who is running the show though? Are you running your life, or is your life running you? If you don’t think there is a difference, you really need to read this. I’ll start off with a cliche question. If you could do anything that wanted when you wake up tomorrow, what would it be? Is that what you are going to do tomorrow? If your answer is no, that’s OK!
We have all heard someone say that you should do what you love for a living. That is often easier said than done. However, just because you aren’t doing what you love doesn’t mean you can’t love what you are doing. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people”
Whatever you do, whether you are a teacher, lawyer, custodian, paperboy, stay at home parent, politician, I don’t care. Whatever you are doing, do it! Don’t just do it, DO IT RIGHT! 2 people can be in the exact same situation. To one, it may be a positive experience, while the other is miserable. How can that be if they are in the same situation? It is in their outlook on the situation, and how they approach the day.
The person that runs the day, that goes into it with a positive attitude, and that attacks the day with purpose, is the person that enjoys the day.
The person that lets the day run them is the person who that goes to work complaining, can’t wait for the day to be over, and is resentful about their situation. They tend not to enjoy their day.
I ask you again, are you running your life, or is your life running you?
One of the saddest statements that I hear on a regular basis is,”I hate Mondays.” Do you realize that if you hate Mondays, you hate 1/7th of your life? That really is sad. I understand that your job may be stressful. I am a special education teacher. I know a thing or 2 about stress. I can go into each day dreading the stressful situations that I know will come from the day, or I can go into each day hoping to make a difference. What about you? Again, I don’t care what you do for a living, I care about HOW you are doing it. Do it with a positive attitude, with purpose, and with integrity, and you will find that you are the one running your day.
Have a great day!
